Visiting the office
What are your hours?
We're open Monday–Friday 10am–7pm and Saturday 10am–4pm. Closed on Sundays. Walk-ins are welcome during all open hours — no appointment needed for most services.
Where are you located?
We're at 163 West 231st Street, New York, NY 10463 — in the Kingsbridge area. You can see us on the map on this page, or open it in Google Maps for directions.
What is your phone number?
You can reach us at (718) 548-0633. We also have two backup lines: (929) 280-7513 and (646) 281-5681. Faxes go to (347) 427-7501.
Can I email you instead?
You can email us at frankpctax@gmail.com (or franktax@icloud.com). You can also send a message right from this page — we read every one and reply the same day during business hours.
Do I need an appointment?
Walk-ins are welcome for most services. We also offer same-day service whenever possible. Two exceptions: credit repair and bankruptcy help are by appointment only. If you have a complex case or want to be sure of timing, you can book a free consult by messaging us or calling (718) 548-0633.
Is there parking nearby?
There's street parking on West 231st Street and surrounding side streets, plus metered parking during the day and a few public lots within a couple blocks. The 1 train (231st Street station), or the Bx9 and Bx1 buses is also a short walk away if you'd rather skip parking entirely.
Can you do my taxes remotely?
Most clients prefer to come in for personalized service, but we do offer some drop-off and remote options — you can drop off documents, send them securely by email, or arrange a phone consultation for follow-up questions. Call (718) 548-0633 to discuss what works for your situation.
Do you speak Spanish?
Sí, hablamos español. We have Spanish-speaking staff and explain everything in plain language — no jargon, no rushed appointments. Come in or call (718) 548-0633 and ask to speak with someone in Spanish.
Is my information kept private?
Everything is handled with complete confidentiality — especially sensitive matters like immigration, bankruptcy, and divorce. We've been doing this since 2002 with the discretion every client deserves. Your information stays between you and us.
Do you keep my original documents?
You keep your originals. We copy only what we need for your file and hand everything back to you the same visit. If a particular case ever requires us to hold an original, we tell you why and for how long before you leave it with us — you decide. Copies are kept in a locked file, and tax records are held about three years as IRS rules require. Ask us to shred your file at any time and we'll do it while you watch.
How long have you been in business?
Frank's PC Tax has been serving the New York community since 2002 — over 23 years of personalized, accurate, trusted service. We've built our reputation on referrals and repeat clients. You can read our Google reviews on this page.
What do your clients say about you?
You can read our Google reviews in the Reviews section of this page, or directly on Google Maps. We're proud of our reputation — built over 23+ years on referrals and repeat clients.
Taxes
Do you prepare and e-file tax returns?
We do full tax preparation and e-filing — federal and NY State returns for individuals and small businesses, backed by our Max Refund Guarantee — if we miss a credit or deduction you qualified for, we amend your return at no charge. That covers W-2 and 1099/self-employment income (rideshare, delivery, freelance), amended returns (1040-X), multiple years of back taxes, ITIN applications and renewals (W-7), and help answering IRS or NY State letters. Most e-filed refunds with direct deposit arrive in about 21 days. See the full checklist on our Services page.
What documents do I need to bring for my taxes?
For taxes, bring: photo ID, Social Security cards (or ITIN letters) for everyone on the return, all W-2s and 1099s, last year's tax return if you have it, plus any documents for deductions (mortgage interest, student loan interest, childcare expenses, charitable donations, medical bills, etc.). Don't have it all? Come in anyway — we'll help you figure out what's still needed.
When is the tax filing deadline?
The federal tax deadline is normally April 15. If you're running late, we can file an extension for you. We also handle back taxes from prior years if you've gotten behind — it's never too late to get caught up.
How much does it cost?
Pricing depends on the service and your specific situation — for example, a simple W-2 return is much less than a complex small-business return. We offer a free initial consultation, so the best thing is to call (718) 548-0633 or send us a message describing what you need, and we'll give you an honest quote upfront.
Can I pay your fee out of my refund?
Often, yes. Many clients qualify to have our fee taken out of their refund instead of paying up front — so you pay nothing on the day. Not everyone qualifies; it depends on your return and how you're getting your refund. We check before we start and tell you either way, so you're never surprised at the end. Ask us when you come in.
How long does a tax return take?
Most tax returns take about 30–60 minutes in office if you have your documents ready. More complex situations (small business, multiple jobs, rental income) can take longer. Walk in any time during business hours — we work to get you in and out as quickly as possible without rushing the work.
How do I check where my refund is?
After we e-file your return, the IRS typically issues refunds within 21 days for direct deposit (paper checks take longer). You can track your refund anytime at the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool, or call (718) 548-0633 and we'll help you check on it.
Can you file taxes from previous years?
It's never too late to get caught up — we help clients file back taxes from prior years all the time. There may be penalties and interest, but the IRS is much easier to work with once you're filing voluntarily. Bring whatever documents you have and we'll figure it out together.
What if I get a letter from the IRS?
Got a letter from the IRS or NY State? Bring it in — we'll review it with you and help you respond. We handle IRS notices, audit preparation, response letters, and resolving issues with the IRS or state. Don't ignore the letter — most problems get worse with time. All matters handled with complete confidentiality.
What tax credits might I qualify for?
Yes — we make sure you claim every credit you qualify for: Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Child Tax Credit (CTC), Additional Child Tax Credit, education credits (American Opportunity, Lifetime Learning), and dependent care credits. These often mean thousands of extra dollars in your refund. We check every one.
How long should I keep my tax records?
Keep records of income (W-2s, 1099s, K-1s), deductible expenses (medical bills, mortgage interest, charitable donations, business expenses if self-employed), and major life events (marriage, new child, home purchase). The IRS recommends keeping tax records for at least 3 years (7 for some situations). We can help you set up a simple system at your next visit.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Zelle, Apple Pay, Google Pay, tap-to-pay and cash. Payment is due at the time of service. For tax prep, some clients also choose to have our fee deducted directly from their refund — ask in office.
Can you do taxes if I am self-employed or have 1099s?
Yes! We handle 1099, freelance, self-employed, and gig worker returns — Uber/Lyft drivers, DoorDash, Instacart, Amazon/eBay/Etsy sellers, contractors, consultants, and small business owners. We help you track deductions (mileage, home office, supplies, business expenses) so you keep more of what you earn.
Do you prepare business tax returns?
Yes — we prepare business tax returns for LLCs, S-Corps, C-Corps, and partnerships (Forms 1120, 1120-S, 1065). We also handle related filings like payroll taxes and year-end reporting. Stop in for a free consult and we'll review your situation.
ITIN
How do I get an ITIN number?
Yes — we apply for new ITINs (Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers) and renew expiring ones. The IRS charges no fee. A valid passport is the only document accepted on its own — otherwise you need two approved IDs (national ID, driver's license, birth certificate, etc.). And note: an ITIN not used on a tax return for 3 straight years expires. We handle the W-7 application, supporting documents, and the IRS submission for you.
Immigration
Can you help with immigration paperwork?
We prepare and organize immigration paperwork: citizenship / naturalization, family petitions, green card renewals, work permits, removal of conditions, adjustment of status, DACA renewals, plus certified translations and USCIS-spec photos. USCIS filing fees change, so we always point you to the current amount at uscis.gov before you file. Everything is confidential. Note: we are a document-preparation service, not attorneys — for complex cases we'll tell you honestly when you need a lawyer. Full details on our Services page.
Can you help with a DACA renewal?
Yes — we help with DACA renewals: organizing supporting documents, completing the renewal form, and making sure your application package is complete before submission to USCIS. Everything handled with complete confidentiality.
Can you help with a green card through marriage?
Yes — we help with marriage-based green card paperwork: family petitions, adjustment of status, fiancé(e) K-1 visa applications, and removal of conditional residence after two years. We organize all the supporting evidence so your case is as strong as possible at submission.
Do you take passport photos?
We take 2×2 passport and immigration photos in office — white background, State Department and USCIS specs, no glasses (required since 2016). We also prepare Form DS-11 (first passport, minors, lost/stolen) and Form DS-82 (eligible mail-in renewals), assemble your full packet, and prep you for the acceptance-facility appointment. Government fees and processing times change — check travel.state.gov for the current ones before booking travel. Adult passports last 10 years; children's last 5. Details on our Services page.
Business & other services
Can you set up an LLC or corporation for me?
We set up LLCs and Corporations in New York: name check with the Department of State, Articles of Organization or Certificate of Incorporation, your EIN (always free directly from the IRS), operating agreement or bylaws, S-corp election (Form 2553), sales-tax Certificate of Authority, and guidance through NY's LLC newspaper-publication requirement (two newspapers, six weeks, certificate within 120 days). State filing fees are set by NY — we'll show you the current amounts before filing. Once you're running, we do the business taxes too. Details on our Services page.
How do I register a DBA or business name?
We help register your DBA (Doing Business As / trade name) with the appropriate county clerk in New York. This lets you legally operate under a name different from your legal personal or company name — useful for branding, banking, and contracts.
Do I have to file anything for my LLC each year?
Yes — NY State requires LLCs to file a biennial statement every 2 years, and corporations have similar ongoing filings. We help you stay current so your business stays in good standing. Don't let your LLC lapse — it can be costly to fix later.
Do you have a notary?
We offer notary services in-office. Bring a valid, unexpired government photo ID and don't sign the document beforehand — you must sign in front of the notary, and all signers must appear in person. We also prepare the documents themselves: affidavits, sworn statements, and child-travel consent letters. Walk in during business hours.
Do you do apostilles?
Yes — we help with apostilles, the certification that makes a US document valid in another country (for marriage abroad, dual citizenship, foreign school enrollment, property, and similar). We prepare and notarize what needs notarizing, tell you exactly which office issues the apostille for your document type, and get your paperwork into the right shape before it goes. Bring the document and tell us which country it's going to — that changes what's required. State fees are set by the government and are separate from our fee, which we quote you before we start.
Do you do fax, copy, print and scan?
In-office services, no appointment needed: Fax (send/receive, domestic and international, confirmation page included), Copy (black & white, two-sided ID copies on one page), Print (from USB, email, cloud or your phone), Scan (to PDF/JPG, emailed or saved to USB), Notary (bring valid photo ID, sign in front of the notary), and Money Transfers via Western Union and MoneyGram — bring photo ID and the receiver's name exactly as it appears on their ID.
Can you help me with my credit?
We offer honest credit assistance: we review all three reports (Equifax, Experian, TransUnion — free at AnnualCreditReport.com), prepare dispute letters under the Fair Credit Reporting Act for inaccurate or outdated items (bureaus generally must investigate within about 30 days), draft debt-validation letters, and build you a practical score plan. Straight talk: no one can legally remove accurate, current negative information — most negative items fall off after 7 years. By appointment only — call (718) 548-0633. Details on our Services page.
Can you help with bankruptcy paperwork?
We prepare personal bankruptcy documents — the petition, schedules, means-test forms and creditor list — and help you understand Chapter 7 (liquidation) vs Chapter 13 (3–5 year repayment plan). Filing triggers the automatic stay, which immediately stops most collections, garnishments and repossessions. A credit-counseling course is required before filing and a debtor-education course after. Handled with complete confidentiality, by appointment only — call (718) 548-0633. We prepare documents, not legal advice — complex cases belong with an attorney. Details on our Services page.
Can you help me file for divorce?
We prepare the complete uncontested (no-fault) divorce packet for self-represented filers in New York — summons, complaint, child-support worksheets when children are involved, affidavits, and the final judgment packet, with step-by-step filing instructions for your county clerk. Court filing fees are set by New York State and paid to the court. Both spouses must agree on all terms for an uncontested case. We are a document-preparation service, not attorneys — contested cases need a lawyer. Full details on our Services page.
Do you translate documents?
We do certified English–Spanish translations with a signed certificate of accuracy — accepted by USCIS, which requires certified English translations of any foreign-language document. Birth/marriage/divorce certificates, diplomas, transcripts, plus letter writing (recommendation, employment, sworn statements), proofreading, and full resume services with cover letters — you get printed and digital copies (PDF/Word) to reuse. Short documents are often same-day. Details on our Services page.
Can you help me fill out government applications?
We prepare and submit benefit applications: NY State unemployment (file the same week you lose your job — waiting costs benefits), Social Security retirement and replacement cards, SNAP applications and recertifications through ACCESS HRA (recert deadlines are strict), Medicare/Medicaid enrollment (Medicare has enrollment windows — missing them can mean lifelong penalties), and NYC marriage licenses (24-hour wait after issuance, valid 60 days). Bring every letter the agency sent you. Details on our Services page.
Do you build websites for small businesses?
Yes — we build complete small-business websites: domain and hosting registered in your name, mobile-first design, bilingual English/Spanish versions, contact forms with click-to-call and WhatsApp, Google Business Profile and Maps setup, basic SEO, and ongoing maintenance — no long contracts. You review the design before we build and the site on your own phone before launch. Details on our Services page.
More questions
What services do you offer?
We offer 16 services under one roof: Tax Preparation, Immigration, Divorce (NY Pro-Se), Corporation & LLC setup, Passport Photos, Document Translation & Resume, Applications Assistance, Credit Assistance, Bankruptcy Assistance, and Website Builds — plus in-office Fax, Copy, Print, Scan, Notary, and Money Transfers. Every one has a full breakdown — what's included, what to bring, and how it works — on our Services page.
Can you help me apply for unemployment?
We help you file your New York State unemployment claim and set up your weekly certifications. File the same week you lose your job — benefits aren't retroactive to your layoff date, so waiting costs you weeks. Bring photo ID, your Social Security number, and your employment history for the last 18 months (employer names, addresses, dates).
Can you help me apply for SNAP or food stamps?
We prepare SNAP (food stamps) applications and recertifications through ACCESS HRA. Bring photo ID, Social Security numbers for household members, proof of address, and proof of income (pay stubs or benefit letters). Recertification deadlines are strict — missing one stops your benefits, so bring the letter HRA sent you and we'll handle it before the cutoff.
Can you help with Social Security or Medicare?
We help with Social Security paperwork — retirement applications and replacement Social Security cards — and with Medicare and Medicaid. Medicare has specific enrollment windows (like the 7-month window around your 65th birthday); missing them can mean lifelong late penalties, so come in before your window closes. Bring photo ID, your Social Security number, and any letters the agency has sent you.
Can you help me get a marriage license?
We prep NYC marriage license applications so your City Clerk appointment goes smoothly. Both partners need valid photo ID, and if either was married before, bring the divorce decree or death certificate. Good to know: there's a 24-hour waiting period after the license is issued before you can marry, and the license is valid for 60 days.
